Running for Health
Welcome to running60lder!
As a complete novice, this blog details my ongoing personal experiences, difficulties and successes as a runner. My aims are simple. To run to improve my health and attempt to reverse pre-diabetes. My personality is such that without a goal or target, I am destined to fail. So, my daughter asked me to run the Dorney Lake Half with her and reluctantly I took up the challenge.
I started my training slowly and steadily using a running app. I recommend this, if like me you have no previous experience. It gave me structure and built my fitness at a sensible pace. What I didn't expect was that I would start to enjoy it. It has been hard work, accompanied by aches, joint stress, niggles and motivational issues. However, bit by bit, I started to lose weight, become conscious of my eating habits and just feel physically better in myself. So much so, I decided to just keep on going!
I hope that this blog will in some way help others in my position, but particularly older runners who seek motivation, a kindred spirit and a realisation that so much can be accomplished at any age. My goal is to connect with fellow runners and share insights. Join me to explore the joys of running and staying active, and prove that age is just a number when it comes to pursuing your passion.
